Having lived in Dumfriesshire in South West Scotland for the last 14 years, I decided to relocate earlier this year and am now based in the Lincolnshire Wolds. I am in the process of setting up my studio and will be painting again soon.
My drawing and painting is inspired by the natural environment and recent pieces include landscapes and wildlife as well as figurative art. My approach to painting and drawing has always been loose and impressionistic. I work quickly and aim to capture the essence of the subject I am working on and to suggest detail, light and movement throughout.
Exhibition venues have included galleries in East Anglia and in Scotland: Swallowtail Gallery (Coltishall), Ottersburn Gallery (Dumfries), Tolbooth Art Centre (Kirkcudbright), Gracefield Arts Centre (Dumfries), Thomas Tosh Gallery (Thornhill Arts), the Parallax Art Fair in Chelsea, London, Admiral Antiques (New Abbey), the National Scottish Showcase Gallery (Kirkudbright), Cut the Mustard Gallery in Langholm, Dancing Light Gallery in West Linton, Edinburgh, the Workshop Gallery (Castle Douglas), Elegance (Lockerbie) and the Yellow Door Gallery (Dumfries).
There are many artists I admire and whose work has influenced me over the years, too many to mention, but they include Whistler, Homer, and Andrew Weyth.
I am a professional member of the Dumfries and Galloway Fine Arts Society and have exhibited with them on many occasions.
As well as the works shown on this website, other paintings can be seen on Saatchi online.
